TT suspension upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their suspension on their TT? I am looking at the Lippert CRE 3000 and adding the MORRYDE heavy duty shackle kit with wet bolts.

So any real world feedback?

I don't know anything about that system but you might want to look into the Joy Rider Shock Suspension System.

I installed the Dexter wet bolt kit with greasable bronze bushings, heavy shackles and cast iron Dexter equalizers with Rubber bushings. Works great for me. I was told by the Mor-Ryde rep at a rally that they buy their wet bolt kits from Dexter. probably so. Nothing special about any of the brands they all look the same. Isn't the CRE 3000 a Mor-Ryde product? It might provide a little more travel than the Dexter set-up but I don't know that you would notice it.

This sounds like an interesting project. I am curious to see how it turns out for you?

Wow. Guess I had been staring at the computer screen to long when typing this out. Lol. Yes, CRE is a MORRYDE product. Was looking at the Lippert version to install. Total price for both is about 250 on Amazon - not horrible to try out. Trying to limit the road shock that is kicking cabinets open and relocating plates and stuff. Besides, haven't upgraded anything in a while and starting to get the shakes!

I bought my wet bolt kit and equalizers direct from the Dexter website. They had a great price when I bought them.

Installed all the parts this weekend. The bushings that I pulled out looked like cheap plastic and not lippert never fail bushings. Some of those bushings were pretty worn down even after only two years of pulling maybe 4K miles.

Some helpful hints:

Connect the frame end of the springs first-the center stabilizer is easier to move around to align for bolts.

The MORRYDE shackles come with bronze bushings which will not fit in the equa flex unit. Luckily, it comes with never fail bushings so I might switch over to those if/when the bronze wear out. I found that putting the bushings in the freezer then tapping then in using the flat bottom side of a screwdriver works pretty well.

Always double check where the grease holes are for the wet bolt and make sure they are not at the top. Takes about 3 pumps of grease.

Will let you all know how the noise is after we camp for Christmas.

Went for a quick pull last night and ALL of the popping and creaking noises are GONE! The only noise heard is that stupid metal tag on the safety chains bouncing around. That itself was worth the money.

Update: just got back from a four day trip. The thing I noticed was the unit didn't rock back an forth as much. We have a few sections on our freeways where the bridge joints are uneven and would produce a pretty good jab or start a porpoise action. The motions are much more controlled now which makes it much less nerve racking when the unit is moving like that in traffic-usually stuck in middle lane. And even DW noticed that our kidneys were intact and most of the big jolts she never raised her nose out of her book. Put that together with no noise and it is a win in my book.

Thanks for the feedback HONDAMAN, seriously looking at the Amazon offerings for this project upgrade. Currently have two other mods in progress for the Sabre 5th wheel so I need to get some more supplies ordered.

this is great info, I also want to do something like this as my TT's ride is not the best.

I want to raise the height of the trailer with an axle under kit. If i also went with this setup the ride would be much improved. just haven't figured out which axle under kit to run.

Might not have a choice.. Might only have one kit depending on what will work with your brand of axle.

I did not get a kit, I had a trailer shop make the kit from the perches and such they had on hand. Saved about half the cost.

Tractor Supply or Northern Tool should have the perches or axle mounts. Then if you are handy with a welder the rest of the hardware should be reusable. A shock kit is also a great upgrade.
