TV Cabinet Mod.

Attached are pictures of a mod I did to a friend's Motor Home. They are going full time next year (2013). Their old TV went out and they purchased a 32" HD-LG to put in it's place. When the old TV was removed there was a great deal of space for storage. I build a hinged shadow box to hold the new unit. The shadow box is mounted on a piano hinge and has a small skid on the bottom near the slide bolt to take the weight of the TV and shadow box when they are traveling.
I am sorry I didn't get a picture with the TV installed. When the TV is mounted it only protrudes about 2" and covers the opening except for the very bottom. The TV is only 3" deep and sits about 1" into the shadow box. The box is flush with the cabinet when closed.
The interior space was finished off and a shelf added. This added a great deal of storage which will come in handy for full timing. Frank

Nice job! I'm surprise to see that even some newer TT still have the TV setup for old style TV. What a waist of space! personally, we prefer not to have any TV when camping. We have a few movies that we can watch on the laptop on rainy days.

Very nicely done. May have to borrow this idea, as our old CRT tv quit as well.

crushor: Thanks for the positive comment. This worked out great for my friends. I should mention that I was concerned about the weight on the latch side. You can't see the tapered skid I mounted on the latch side bottom. When the door is closed it rests on the skid to take the weight off the hinge. Frank

I didn't see that, however I wondered about that myself. I appreciate the info. Thank you.

It is not visible in the photo. It's on the bottom of the door.
