TV install

The wall, where my TV goes is hollow. I'm thinking about securing a 3/8th piece of plywood and then attaching the TV mount...tv . But my TV is only 28" and weights 8 lbs. I'm thinking I don't need the plywood base as long as i anchor the mount. Any thoughts?

Even at 8 lb. the TV and wall mount is going to take a lot of pounding. Just enough over time it will weaken the mounts hold on the wall and put your purchase in jeopardy. Some sort of reinforcement is going to be a much better solution. Make sure you get the mount that allows you to coil the excess cords around the back of the TV.
