Upgraded tail lights to LED models.

I was never happy with the tail lights on my '11 Shamrock 19 and had been wanting to change them to LEDs. Bottom line: I wanted more brightness.

Well I found a pair with 17 LEDs, 12 for tail and 5 for the blinker. Got a great deal on submersible models for $45, on sale here in Canada at Princess Auto, a Harbor Freight style chain.

They are SO MUCH brighter and very happy, and they are really waterproof.

I removed the old assembly, cleaned the areas well with some alcool, only left with 4 screw holes and the wire hole.

The new models are the same width, but not as high. On the RH you will notice I plugged the bottom holes with a white cap/plug and silicone. On the left I used the bottom holes for the license plate.

Just another idea for all to think about.

That is something I do no regret doing on my Roo. The LED lights seem to cut through the darkness, fog and rain much better. Way safer that's for sure.

Bright lights--------------

I too changed out my tail lights last December to the same lights. Also changed the screws to stainless steel.

By watching my rear view camera when I change lanes, the bright lights do get all behind me attention.

They are super bright!

Good job Miatared.

One for one replacement?

Was there any additional electrical work required. usually there is when going to LEDs. Were these , one light out, one light in? No diodes required or are they built in?

Thanks

They are Bargman #47-84-610 Surface mount. Only thing I needed to add was a license plate lamp & got black stainless screws from Lowes to mount them. Got them form Carid.com around $45 ea. Thier id # 3724619 Simple install....nothing else needed other than silicone to seal them.
