For my bonus at work, I got $200 to spend on our camper. What 12v TV did you go with??? Looking to spend my money on that or Solar panels. We do 99% boondocking.

Just the opposite at our house. I'm the one buying all the necessary equipment you guys are always talking about. DH just says "Another Amazon box came!" Could be cuz I'm the one reading the forum!

Geez, just when I thought I might be about done spending $$ on the new TT, I see all these great ideas!

So our first upgrade was getting a real mattress instead of the blanket on a board that came with the trailer. DW picked out a queen size 10" memory foam mattress and I can tell you from our maiden voyage it is one of the best RV upgrades we have ever made (and we've made a lot!).

There was a bit of a consequence to this though - as you are probably aware a trailer queen size is 6" or so shorter than a real queen size. So I built a little shelf to support that overhang. My intention was to use it for the first trip and then look for some sort of shelving unit to put under there like mchayes did. However, our wonderful fur balls had a different idea and they like it so much we will just go with this being their place (better than under foot). This means I need to go back and stain & varnish the wood so it matches the TT wood but that will be easy enough.

The other down side is that the mattress weighs 90# so lifting the bed is a real pain. That means I won't be partitioning off the pass through like others have. I'm still glad we did it - I sleep great in the trailer now and that's worth a lot!

I had that same issue when I added a 4" Gel topper to our RV mattress. There's a simple solution and that is to replace the two lift shocks that came with your RV. The cost is about $27 and they replace the 2 you have now. Its a very simple swap. After doing this, even our 8 year old can lift the bed.

Excellent idea Mr. Smith! I will go check in our TT but did your factory shocks have the same ball mount or did you have to buy those as well?

They had the same ball mounts. If you get the brand, model no. etc. info off of your existing shocks, you can ask the seller to confirm the ball size for you. If for some reason you do need new ball mounts, same guy sells them cheap.

Just got a couple of goodies in myself, Bal extended X-Chocks and Andersen Leveling chock kit. Trying them out this weekend. Also, we bought a 4" memory foam topper last year and that thing has been worth every penny. My only advice is to make sure you look for quality over trying to save a few bucks.

I think that should have me set up well and ready fir camping. Can not wait to hit the road with the family. Feel free to share items you have added that enhance your camping experience.
Then, after your first trip out, you'll have a new list. It never stops but it is really fun. (Man shopping).
Happy Camping.
