Useless bunkbed, useful shelf

Our 27DBK has rear bunks. We could never use the upper bunk because the ladder was straight up, and our boys couldn't make the transition.
The younger boy still goes with us, but at 13 he's nearly 6ft, and the lower bunk no longer had enough headroom.

I pulled the bunk, shortened it, raised it and reinstalled as a shelf.Click image for larger version

Great mod but that must have hurt on a new trailer. When we went shopping for a trailer we looked around at the bunks and all of our kids are to be over 6' and our 12 year old at 5'3" laid down in the bunk and not much more room left. That is why we went with a Roo 233S with 3 queen beds.

It hurt a little. My DW pointed out the resale issue. However, it needs to work for us, and we're planning on 10 years with this one.
