Cincy6 - did the shelves come in that size or did you cut them? Do you know what size you have?

They come in 12", 16", and 20" depths I think -- those look like the 20" depth ones. The 12 and 16 come in all sorts of lengths, but the 20" depth ones only came in a 4' length. So yes, they need to be cut down to the right width for your closet / cabinet.

I cut a 4 foot shelf into 1 foot wide pieces with a hack saw. Whole project took about 30 minutes.

Went to Home Depot today to get an idea of my options and cost. For the OHC that holds my lite weight ovenware and plastic storage bowls I am leaning towards the peg board design. For the coat closet I am leaning towards the wire shelves or open wire baskets but I'm not sure what I am expecting from that space yet.

The store visit was helpful because now I know what material will be needed.

I mocked up the shelves that we used to have. Sorry about the picture quality - best I could do at the moment.

In photo 1, I simply cut two sections of pegboard to fit inside the wrdrobe cabinet. Be sure to keep the same side as bottom on both prices to ensure level alignment of the peg holes.

Photo 2 shows the type of clips I used. I got them at Home Depot. The clips are designed to be held in place by a 1/2" shelf, and have knobs on the back to fit standard pegboard holes.

Photo 3 Shows how the clips are set up on the board inside the cabinet. I was able to support 50 lbs with only 3pegs each side.

Photo 4 shows how the shelves look installed. The shelves lock into the clips, and the shelves also hold the pegboard tight up against the side walls.
