wasted space and fwd. basement storage, flagstaff

KyDan brings up a good point (in my subwoofer cabinet thread). There is a lot of wasted space. I went through all the cabinets, etc. and removed protective walls or moved the protective walls back to create space.
Another thing I did was to remove the wall (flimsy piece of paneling) in the forward basement storage area. I also removed the sliding tray. My flagstaff has limited outside storage in my opinion. Wife.com said she had ample storage in the kitchen. So now, where the lower cabinet under the kitchen sink is now open into the front basement storage area. It gave me a huge area to store my chalks, tools, etc. etc. etc.

Yes, I've also moved or re-moved some of those cheapie little plywood
panels they use to hide wires or water heater or water pump.

My first major mod will be the "night stands". In our trailer there are little
"night stand" looking piece of counter top on both sides of the bed.
They DON'T OPEN. Sheesh, how crazy is that!!
These areas are roughly the size of a bread box for those of you old
enough to know what a bread box is!
I'll be ripping the tops off these areas and either installing drawers in the
front or more likely putting hinges on the top so they can be opened
for more clothes storage. There is precious little room for clothes in our
trailer.
Now I need to take a hard look at my woofer and see if there is usable
space in front of it.

Breadbox? I've been looking for a breadbox. Nobody makes a breadbox anymore and I have no idea why.

I suspect this was a rhetorical question but I'm gonna answer anyway!
I remember when bread came in wax paper bags and would be stale
in 3 days.
I also remember when mice in the house were a common problem.
A metal bread box helped with both those problems.

There are a ton of bread boxes on Ebay. I admit some attraction
to the "retro" look but counter space is limited in our house so we
use the "bread drawer" that is already there in our cabinets.

My wife found a white medal breadbox for our camper, I have no Idea where it came from. It sets nicely on the counter of the camper. Now that I think about it, it seems like every time we go camping and I open the fridge to get a beer I see rolls, bread and bagels in the fridge. I don't understand?????

Speaking of sub-woofer compartments, I "sealed" the mesh covered door on mine with a black plasic trash bag and some duct tape. You can't see it from the outside of the compartment and it cuts down on the air conditioning load.

I also put a square of light plywood over the laundery chute opening because of the same reason. I was amazed at the heat that comes into the trailer via these two openings into the basement area.

While on the road, or dry camping, that is exactly what are microwave is used for.

I too have removed the cheap paneling that was used to hide the wiring under the cabinets to make more room, just remember that the wire is there when you store things.
