Water filter

We camp a lot at state parks so we use the fresh water tank all the time. Problem is the water always taste like hose water so we bring gallons of water to drink and they end up taking a lot of space in the fridge. Is there a water filter I can put in after the fresh tank to fix this? I know they have the ones you use when you're hooked directly to a water line but I'm not sure about one for the fresh tank.

Ours came with an onboard water filter that filters everything off the supply line or from the water pump. If your's doesn't have one you can use the same principle and install your own. Just need to locate where the city water connection meets the line from the water pump and install there.

Note: Some people have had issues with their water filter leaking, so have removed them. By installing one you might end up having that risk. We haven't had any issues but there are enough stories on this forum about them to be cautious.

You could also consider installing an 'under the counter' filter and faucet like the Rainfresh product line then it doesn't impact with flow on the rest of the plumbing system.

Our TT has a filter installed but also We use a blue KDF filter on the end of the hose while filling our fresh water tank, the same type you would use on the city connection. We Also use tastepure in the tank, by CAMCO I think and available at Walmart. Lastly any water we use to drink or use to cook goes though a Pur pitcher type filter which sits on the counter. I am sure a Brita pitcher would also work. With three levels/types of filtering, we have never had bad tasting water.

When you fill your FW tank at home are you using your rubber house hose or using your dedicated potable FW rated camping hose? If the former that might be contributing to your taste issues. Recommend sanitizing your system and adding some taste treatment after rinsing sanitizing bleach solution out to see if that helps.

I may just change out the faucet to a household style metal one and get one of those screw on style filters that go on the end.

That is what we did,removed the (Pullout Hose type) and put in a (Hy-Rise type) with screw thread end.Then placed a (Pur) filter assy on it! Youroo!!

Will a filtrete water filtration kit work in a camper ? It goes in the line right before the kitchen faucet under the counter

If you use the water additive that is for the fresh water tank it should take that hose taste away .

Like this idea. I'll still carry "plain" drinking water but this would be great for cooking, coffee etc.
