Question What's under stairs?

Has anyone pulled the top of their stairs off (on fifth wheel). Wondering if anything is in there or if I could add a pair of hinges to each stair top and use it for storage? Figured I'd check here to see if someone has already "looked" before I pull mine.

if nothing, seems like wasted storage space.

Depends on each model trailer. We have looked at a lot of fivers and some have storage under the steps and others are sealed.

We have a 12 Flagstaff 8528RKWS and there is nothing but the basement under ours. I mounted the central vac there.

I can think of a few things that might be under the stairs;

Harry Potter

Creepy people

Or a bear

YMMV though...

On our 2012 Silverback, the central vacuum cannister is mounted to the bottom stair riser and nothing else is in there.

Sounds like an opportunity

Guess I'll check either this weekend or next. Hope I don't find Harry under there. Seems like it would be a good place to store my "in trailer" tool box.

My Cardinal has under step storage. I was surprised to see my Son's Cedar Creek didn't.

Proceded to cure that.

Removed treads,cut,and installed piano hinges.
Added gussets to give more strength.

Did check my stairs the other weekend. Discovered that carper is a single piece running down over both stairs. Thought perhaps each stair top would be individually covered. Don't want to cut it to pop the tops off stairs (at this time). Figure I've got enough unused storage (at the time).

That's what I was thinking too, but then I realized he did say he had steps, but nothing about them leading anywhere...
