I noticed that to, a 1/4 or 3/8 round over bit will buff that edge well and then coat the ends with some undercoating spray.

One of three mods before our big trip next Saturday. I had these 3x3 posts left over from an old playset. 45 degrees on top and 22.5 degrees on bottom, 3/4" threaded rod with locking nuts on top and the adjustable nuts on bottom. Took about 20 minutes and only cost was my time.

To further keep it from moving, I cut up an old tire so there is rubber on the top braces

So, in my opinion, while this appears to be a genius level idea. I have to wonder about the properties of the pine and the single clamp rod if there is rotation in the tires for some reason. One side would be going down and the other rolling up. Seems like the rod would split the block from the inside in spite of the washers on the outside. I think you should test it or add more rods for support. personally I wouldn't trust the safety of my vehicle or family to something that wasn't proven, especially if it was made of material that could split. I'll stick to my x-chocks for now.

If you tighten the nut on the rod enough to split the board you did it wrong.

I think what I was implying was that if the vehicle rolled it would torque the chocks in a way the may cause the wood to split.

If it rolls then there are bigger problems than split wood.
