Which camera needed for Salem FSX 179DBK

I just purchased the Forest River Salem FSX 179DBK travel trailer; which is pre-wired for a backup camera. Which camera and monitor do I need to buy for this model?

Hmmm. I just went to the Furrion site. The FOS48TAPK we've all come to xxxx, has been discontinued. New model is a Vison S. Can support up to 4 cameras (at additional cost). Does have sound capability between camera and display. What I wish is that they added recording capability like what is in dash cams. Rear view dash cam is useless while towing...

Furrion camera option

I just ordered the "Emmako Digital Wireless Dual Backup Camera High-Speed Observation System For Truck/Trailer/RV 7'' Monitor Split Screen Kit IP69K from Amazon. It is about half the price($230) of the Furrion and has gotten really good reviews. I will update when I get it/installed.

Yea, I'm on the fence about buying a Furrion just because that's the free mount the manufactures installed on the back of the camper. While there are some positive reviews, the negative ones I've seen are pretty negative, especially about the service from Furrion and their lack of repair capability and pushing you to spend again to buy the newest model if you have a problem outside the 1 year warranty. Not thinking I wanna take a chance on spending $400-$500 every year or so to have an observation camera that works.

I'm leaning hard towards jumping off the fence and giving my money to someone that makes a camera that has solid reviews and reading that if there was a problem, the company responded in an appropriate way. All while paying about half the price.

I agree that the Furrion Observation Camera is very pricey compared to the competition. As long as you can mount something else in a way to cover and seal the hole in the back wall from the OEM mount, you can pick whatever brand/model you want.
