Winfield Stabilizers

We added the Winfield Stabilizers to our 5th wheel this weekend.
All I can say is WOW!
They do exactly what there are advertised to do.
To eleminiate the shakes we had tried BAL X-Chocks on both sides of the rig.
A tripod, and home made stabilizers from Harbor Freight.

Nothing really worked until we added the Winfield stabilizers.
SWMBO noticed right away. Shaking is about 90% eliminated.
The magic combo for us was the X-Chocks and the Windfield.
Scott was real good to work with and his product is top notch.

Just though I would share our experience.

i had the same experience when i added the steadyfast system. i went the route of the king pin stabilizer also (two different types).

the spare was the only problem. had to drill out and use a hole on the foot more forward of the one they had designated for that purpose.

think it was great u were able to make them for so little. i wish i had access to the welding equipment, i would probably have done the same. (i saw ur thread on building them awhile back).
usually, it is more abt spending more for the same thing than making it.
i had to find something i got for spending the extra money, the manual was all i could think of.

even though i spent the money, i don't regret it.

Can you give the link on how these were made?

I enjoy building things rather than buying them, when I can, and I have been considering building some stabilizers using telecoping poles of some type.. Pool cleaning pole or even shower rod.

Also, has anyone tried just using cargo straps? I know the poles provide stabilization for both legs in both directions, but straps should provide resistance in opposing directions. I think I'll try it on my upcoming Veterans day trip. Curious if anyone has tried it before. Most of the pre-engineered buildings and towers I see erected use opposing cables, not rigid steel.

I don't know why u couldn't use straps in criss cross fashion for side to side movement.
but what about for and aft movement?

I don't have a problem with fore and aft movement. I use the X chocks for chocking my 5er and those things lock it down pretty good in that direction.

I also notice on a few other threads since posting that a lot of folks simply use telecoping or ratcheting cargo bars.

I'm all about a cheap fix and I can use them in my truck when I'm not camping. :P

That's exactly what I use! And although I can't claim a "rock-solid" camper, I'm not going for that either.

I was considering trying some but the only ones I can find are70" max length. Not sure thats long enough to brace my landing gear. I have to check, but I park in a storage lot and will have to wait until I can get by there to measure.

On post 3 those are over the road tractor trailer cargo bars.
I had to cut them both down as they were to long.

Just wanted to provide a review on one of the stabilizing bar systems. I picked up a set of the "LockArm Jack Satbilizing Bar" from PPL for $67. I mounted them on the landing gear of my 5ver and along with the xchocks I already had, i am amazed at the difference it made. there is no movement whatsoever on the frond end of my rig no matter how much I push on it. The rear is still wiggly but I'm going to try some cargo jacks back there and if it helps, probably get another set of the lock arms for a permanent fix.
