Wireless Rear Camera issues.

My remarks are basic and simple. I was sold a wireless camera system when i purchased my 5th wheel Cedar Creek 38CK. The manufacturer took the time to prewire for power. That is good, but why not sell the upgrade with a prewired remote antenna closer to the cab of the tow vehicle. There is significant signal loss with the rear camera with the built in antenna. I feel that most people that go for this option would also appreciate the antenna placement closer to the front. Just my two cent worth. I don't like the idea of retrofitting the cable on the exterior of the roof to place this remote antenna. I would have rather pay for the prewire up front. How do I forward this to the company to consider this in all of the designs ?

You can buy an extender antenna, run it to the side of the camper so will have a clear line of site to the cab. You don't necessarily need it closer. The extender that was sent to me to make my rear cam ope-ratable had a 6 foot wire. The signal is so strong, it now interferes with the vehicles TPMS system. . A matching antenna is used with the monitor. They have magnetic mounts for easy temporary attachment or you can epoxy.

Tried that on my 40' Cedar Creek. It didn't help. Wound up putting the antenna on the front cap and adding a 35' extension cable. I also wasn't fond of running the cable on the roof but it sure cured the reception problem.

I found my biggest problem was the truck interferance. Mounting the camera antenna to the back side did not clear my problems untill I mounted the monitor extender with the magnetic mount to the roof of my vehicle. WEll now my vehicle TPMS gets occasionally blocked out so I just can't win.

A long cable has a lot of loss of signal. A antenna with more gain mounted on the side is a better choice. I have a directional wifi antenna I am mounting that way in the spring.

Mine is on back to side and side of truck roof. Very strong.
I am going to install extender booster for my trailer TST TPMS as this camera booster may now be too strong.

I used a cable extension to mount the camera transmitter in the front storage area of our 5er. I wired it into the headlight power so I have to run with my lights on but that's no big deal.

They should come out with an 8th pin and leave it as an "aux"...
