This reminds me of another riddle I heard a long time ago. It also works better when spoken. The guy that told it was holding a penny, a nickel and a dime his hand.
The riddle goes "Billy's mom has three kids. Penny (point to the penny), Nicholas (point to the nickel) so (point to the dime) what's the third kid's name?"
It's amazing how many people have no idea even after you repeat it 4 or 5 times.
I heard several versions of that riddle, but never with the coins as a visual. I just did it with my employees and a few customers....none of which got it.
I changed it to even lead them more. I pointed to the dime as dominic, the nickel as nicholas, and then left the penny as the third child. Everyone is saying penny.
