Didn't know Mt. Everest was in Hawaii.

Mauna Kea is over 10,000 meters tall compared to 8,848 meters for Mount Everest - making it the "world's tallest mountain". The base of Mauna Kea is about 6000 meters below sea level and the summit is about 4000 meters above sea level.

From your reference: "Mount Everest is called the world's highest mountain because it has the highest elevation above sea level. We could also say that it has the "highest altitude".

It all depends on how you measure and from where. Mt. Chimborazo is the tallest if measured from the center of the Earth.

Look at this way: I'm 6ft wife is 5ft. I'm taller than wife. Wife climbs 6 foot ladder. I stay on ground. Wife is higher than me but she is still not as tall. Same , same for Everest and Mauna Kea. I'm done

I guess the best way is to do all the measuring from Earth's center. Now, I'm done.

All I know is I'm a Texan, through and through... and I like it that way.

Safe travels, everyone... and Happy Easter!

Just don't start flipping Texas on its hinges or moving it into Alaska. Not all of us Texans are stuck to the earth.
