Wish I had bought one of these VWs before this news broke. Now they will have less power and get worse fuel mileage. I would not take my VW back to a sDealer to get 'fixed' (neutered) if I had one. Plants need more CO2

You may be able to pick up a used one that has not had the recall done for a good price.

They release 10 to 40 times NOx. Not sure if the CO2 numbers where out of line or not.

Is this the Alpha test of a new "fix"? If so it needs a wee bit more pipe methinks....

It amazes me how people choose to put their mileage and performance ahead of the condition of the planet they are leaving for their relatives and children. As RVers most of look forward to the ability to get away and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature. If we do not start taking care of our planet, we might as well park our RV's in our driveways and camp there.

It takes a lot of energy to build a motor. When you're destroying a motor to save a few grams of NOx, is it really worth it?? And, to add to it, how much more CO2 we are putting into the atmosphere. Less NOx equals more CO2.

Here is a post from 2012 on IDParts FB Page of a total mess caused by the EGR.

Either way, I hope they work more on a Urea solution.
