All in good fun :-)

ROTFLMAO! That was a good one Doug!

Here is what I sent out to my workgroup today (all of whom are history geeks )

On this day, we celebrate that silly 1st day of April, known to many as
April Fool's Day.

And I am SURE the History Geeks among us would like to know the history behind all the tomfoolery such as:

https://www.google.com/maps/@34.6519701,-86.6689539,15z

(Click on the Pac-Man Icon in the lower left. YES I said Pac-Man!)

The earliest recorded association between 1 April and foolishness can be
found in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales (1392). Some writers
suggest that the restoration of 1 January as New Year's Day in the 16th
century was responsible for the creation of the holiday, but this theory
does not explain earlier references.

In the Middle Ages, New Year's Day was celebrated on 25 March in most
European towns.[10] In some areas of France, New Year's was a week-long
holiday ending on 1 April.[2][4] Some writers suggest that April Fools'
originated because those who celebrated on 1 January made fun of those who celebrated on other dates.[2] The use of 1 January as New Year's Day was common in France by the mid-16th century,[7] and this date was adopted officially in 1564 by the Edict of Roussillon.

While CERTAINLY not a medieval device, the stalwart Koreans (not typically
known for their jocularly) Posted this to their global site today:

Galaxy BLADE edge: Chef’s Edition – Samsung Electronics Official Blog: Samsung Tomorrow | Samsung Electronics Official Blog

Then again this is probably the best use of a Samsung Galaxy I have seen yet
(and still it's not as good as an iPhone

But I digress...

Ancient Romans held a festival known as Hilaria. The occasion was used to
celebrate the resurrection of the god Attis. Hilaria, of course, resembles
the word hilarity in English. The modern equivalent of Hilaria is called
Roman Laughing Day. An early form of our beloved April Fools? Perhaps. So,
perhaps when in Rome, instead of doing as the Romans do, we can motor 'up the boot' and stay at this new hotel!

Back to our history lesson my friends...EVERYONE seems to be getting into
the act!

Other non-Western cultures have their own traditions similar to April Fools'
Day as well. In India, Holi, a colorful Hindi festival that frequently
entices non-Hindi participants to join in, often is celebrated by people
playing jokes and throwing colorful dyes on each other. Just what we need -
a face full of Rit dye to start your day! Still, those Indian's seem to have
a natural talent for Math - (I would confirm this but I could hardly
understand my Calculus professor) - still this should certainly remove no
doubt that the Indian physicists at CERN are geniuses!

Our final tidbit of April fools history concerns our favorite part of the
world (at least at present, until we find a new weapons testing location)

Persian culture also has a holiday with a similar theme, known as
Sizdahbedar. On this day, which typically coincides with April Fools' Day
itself, Iranians play pranks on one another. And, while on the subject of
those fun loving members of ISIS:

So, that about does it on the history of this fine April day. If you are
feeling "lucky" and want to search for more April Fools pranks might I
suggest this link?
