It's interesting that this movie came out in 1995 (which is only about a year after I started driving) and they still referred to an oil can. I don't remember ever buying oil in anything except the plastic bottles.

It makes me wonder when they switched.
I can remember buying oil cans in the early 80's.

The old relay-style click was a very loud and distinct sound. Most today are digital. My Silverado uses the radio to duplicate the various chimes. Our Edge makes no sound at all or it's too low for me to hear.

Read your owners manual - it probably tells you how to increase the volume.

No! Thank you! [emoji6] I'm fine without it. It doesn't fit the beat of my 80's metal bands. I was just responding to the other post.

remember when

I might be older then any of you as I remember all of those things and a Huffy Bicycle was cheap enough I got a new one and my neighbor bought a new Schwinn and ruined my day. I was born in 1944.

I remember when you could lift the hood and see the road. I even remember crawling into the engine compartment to change spark plugs.

... And the fenders were solid enough to hold you while you say on them. I think most of the dents in my Silverado are from the water pressure of the garden hose. Heck! It's harder to bend aluminum foil.

Remember the old Buicks that had the hood that opened to the side. You could unlatch either side and lift the hood to the other side. I was going across the Missouri River bridge from Council Bluffs to Omaha, a Buick just ahead of me had a crosswind hit it and lifted the hood off of the car. It took 2 bounces and over the railing into the river never to be seen again. Ill bet that was a surprise to the driver. Apparently wasn't latched very well.

Many pickups were the same way. International and Studebaker if I remember right.

My 2014 JGC ECO Diesel has that now. If you're in auto mode you cannot manually flash your brights at others who are blinding you. In fact it can detect when you're in town by the street lights and turn your high beams off until you're out of town.

Cars now: will turn your house lights on when you pull in the driveway, unlock your front door, turn your TV on to your favorite channel, start your coffee, and log your drive home to use for your deductions on your taxes.

Technically, you can do all that with your phone now.
