DOH, that was dumb!

C'mon, we've all done it. Something goes wrong with your camper and you spend hours trying to figure it out. Then someone (usually a paid service tech) shows up and fixes it in minutes. Here's your opportunity to fess up. I'll go first...

Took the cover off the camper a week before our first planned outing for 2015. Loading items, going through the normal checks. Uh oh... no A/C. I tried to figure it out, but am not a electric genius. Cancelled the camping trip losing $35, and took the camper to get serviced. Want to take a guess what it was?

All I needed to do was reset the thermostat. They didn't even charge me for it and showed me how to reset it. Wow did I feel stupid.

This is a bit more a lesson learned than a DOH! But still...LOL

SO, I was putting in the slides and decided to do 2 at once. Almost in and poof no slide juice

And ONLY no slide juice

Well it turns out after a visit to the dealership that there is a "secret" breaker on our rig BEHIND the battery. Lesson learned.

Found new breaker, check
Only run one slide in at a time, check

Camping in January woke up to freezing cold. Tank must've gone out during the night. Sent DH to switch the tank so he does. Can't get the heat going again. Turned the fireplace on for heat. We weren't far from the house so I ran home for a space heater as well. DH couldn't figure it out. We called a service tech but he was going to he almost $200 to come out so we decided to skip him. A couple hours later we are poking in and out of every crevice we could think of. Turns out DH missed a knob when he switched tanks. Doh.

The very first trailer I had, I couldn't get the lights to come on over the dinette. Changed the light bulb to no avail. so I rewired the light in the ceiling to come on. I was proud of my rewire job and showed my wife that we now had lights. At the end of summer we decided that we enjoyed camping and wanted to trade up to something nicer. As I was walking though the trailer with the salesmen, I asked what one of the switches was for. He said it was for the lights over the dinette. So, I told him what I had done and that they had to rewire my rewire job. Lesson learned.

I'm currently living in my 5er, and the temps called for some AC to cool off the bedroom. So I go out, fire up the generators (No high amp power outside) and bee bop back in. The fan comes on first as it does, then the compressor kicked in and bam, no power. I go out, the generators have green lights, the breaker isn't kicked. I go inside, cycle the breakers, still no power.

I curse Forest River a bit, go back out to check things and realize that some dummy didn't switch the cable from the 15a cord to the generators. Ugh, this ones on me.
