Dumper of the Family

There's usually just one person that handles the DumpDudies in any RV family. I'm sure every one of you has Dump stories. Let's hear em.

My Best One

I call it the backwards long jump from a full kneeling position. We were leaving early from the Kentucky Horsepark. I had my old beater El Dorado motor home. The kids and wife were all asleep as we were leaving about 6 in the morning. I decided to dump before hitting the road. I got everything hooked up and pulled the lever. The hose immediately popped off of the fitting. I was in shorts and flip flops, I swear I cleared 15 feet backwards and didn't get a drop on me. Spent a few minutes hosing everything down and hit the road.

It happened in Yellow Stone National Park, a few years ago. The wife and I were parked in the camp ground next to a Class A, with “RV FOR RENT” painted across the front and side. It was a beautiful morning, we had the windows open setting at the table eating breakfast. About that time a guy came walking around the front of the motor home, wearing nothing but a pair of jogging shorts and flip flops. He stood looking at the dump valves for a few minutes and then began to bend over towards them. I said to my wife, “oh no, look as this.” I’m saying “don’t do it, don’t do it,” I guess I should have said it out loud. He did it, he grabbed the black tank valve and gave it a pill, and the rest was hilarious, at least to me. It came flowing out like crazy all over his feet, and he was so shocked he just stood there and watched for several seconds. He then closed the valve and sloshed back around the motor home. I was laughing so hard I couldn’t quit, and my wife was saying shut up, he can hear you. I don’t know if he did or not, but I will never forget that morning. Oh, by the way, breakfast was over at that point!!
