(chuckle) DH and I was watching that show about the three guys who compete with 3 different makes of vehicles. Top Gear. This time it was trucks; a Dodge, a Ford and a Toyota.

They mentioned the space shuttle, but they ended up towing an airplane;

Ford F-150 King Ranch Pulls Airliner like a Toy Plane « F150online.com

Check out the clip below to see Foust whipping the passenger aircraft around like an undocked, tail-happy Doberman that knows a treat is coming.

DH *SO* wants the job these lucky guys have!

When I saw the OP I thought it was one of Old Coot's mods.

Not an ecoboost but worth watching:

Yeah, I watched that episode. We used to watch Gold Rush until I started wanting to pull my hair out at the ineptitude of that one (the original) bunch. And they're STILL chasing gold, but now they're in the jungle.

As to the variables...plenty from the gear ratio, to having a locker, different tread designs on the tires, different air pressures, and who is first to hit the pedal. Once you start to be pulled backwards, it takes more to overcome.

I once watched a 1500 Silverado and a 1500 Ram do four pulls in MI, and both won twice. There was a fifth pull but a blown rear diff in the RAM stopped the pull really quick.

(*I use the phrase "rednecks" but do not mean southerners. I have lived in the south, the north and the west, and have found that every state I have lived in, and I'm sure the ones I have not lived in, have rednecks. In fact, I do believe UT may have as many rednecks per ratio to population as does any southern state I have lived in or visited.)

Heck; many would say I'm a redneck....
