Ford is Number 1

It took a while to find my truck.
Everyone said just order one.
I'm too impatient.
It was a six hour round trip, and I really wanted more than an SLT.
But oh well. It's new, so I won't complain.

The similar Ram- a 2500 Longhorn- was going to be around $46K. The same money would get a Tradesman which was really cheap feeling and the seats were horrid. Wasn't a contest at all for me after looking at them. However, he says that a local dealer has an ad for a 3500 Crew 4x4 Cummins Tradesman that is at $43,xxx. This dealer is known for running an ad for a specific stock number that is never available- the old bait and switch routine. I told him I thought that would be a great deal IF he could get it- also told him not to expect much of an interior and plan for some pretty uncomfortable seats. But he's needing a work truck, so it would probably work fine for his needs.
Wow, you purchased your F250 for less than the local dealer have me for my 2011 Lariat PSD with 25k miles ($44,000)...plus $10k off of my new truck.

I can't understand why the dealers change the standard 3.73 gears to the 3.42 on a 3500. If you are buying a 3500 you will most likely be pulling something and fuel mileage should not be that high on the must have list.

Im pretty sure all Ram SRW, both 2500 and 3500 are only available with 3.42

No the standard gear is 3.73 with the option of a 3.42 or 4.10.

Correct.
CUMMINS srw get 3.42. That's it, that's all. Gas has 73 and 410.

Well that's partial right, I just built a 3500 srw with a 4:10 gear but it wouldn't let me use the 3.73. That sucks, I didn't really want the 3.42's.

I wonder how 410 shows up for you, and not when I build it?

Interesting.

It has to do with cab and box.

A reg cab, 2wd can have all three.

I used the Aisin transmission which was the only way it would allow me to use the 4.10's. Of course I won't find any of those on the lot so I would need to order a 2016. I might just go with the 3.42's even if I don't want to.

I had 42 in my 2500.
Now I have a 15, 3500 aisin w 3.42.
Haven't towed with it yet, but I'm sure it will be fine.
