This is dumb. Very few people will purchase a vehicle and tell everyone it was the worse thing they did. It shouldn't matter if its what you like and it does what you want it to.

I would sure like to see temperatures displayed during the climb: engine coolant, engine oil, transmission oil.

A Scan Gauge II can display all that and more. It plugs into the OBDII port under the dash. It's programmable to display practically everything the computer is monitoring in the vehicle. Most autoparts stores carry them. Are you still towing with the 06?

My 2015 RAM 3500 displays transmission and oil temperature. Very convenient.

Yes. I have been using a ScanGuage II since 2008. I would like to see the testing of Ford/GM/Dodge during in side-by-side stress hill climbing tow testing reporting the temperatures. Just because one vehicle is a few seconds faster on the climb doesn't tell me how well the vehicles compare dissipating the heat generated during the test. What are the exhaust temperatures entering the turbo? What is the transmission temperature at the start and end of a 10 mile uphill towing. And the same for engine oil and engine coolant?

These tests are performed by some magazines, but the temperatures are not reported.

Now I got you. I misinterpreted your other post.
I agree, take the vitals of the trucks at rest and also while maintaining a flat pull. Then perform the tests and record the readings at the top of the grade. Once over the crest record how quickly the truck recovers.
Those results would mean more to me than just how fast.

I am considering either a Ford F250 or a Ram 2500 "Gas" to pull a 7,500lb TT, and not sure which one is better. I have driven both, and both are capable, but would like to hear from both sides as to how each steps up to any warranty issues. I have read Ram does a better job in this area, but that's from reading info on the Internet. What's your experiences?

Thanks

There should be little difference in the warrantees of either brand. If you don't have a preference research the dealer themselves, they will make or break the process. Auto dealers are just like RV dealers, finding a good one will make the venture enjoyable.

What I would like to know is where are the scales to verify the trailer weights?

Where are the data records and test instruments to verify actual vehicle out puts? Such as engine, transmission temperatures, braking ability such as stop distance at various speeds? Cornering ability?

After watching the video I wonder if they are even using SAE J2807 Towing Requirements, or just seat of the pants testing?

Being a retired engineer I want data to verify the posters opinion that Ford is the best! I do not see it and I do not believe the Ford trucks comply to SAE yet. If I remember correctly Ford issued a statement that they will not comply until the 2017 vehicles are available.

Some dealerships are just more willing to help than others. Our local Ram dealer is also Chevrolet. Chevy owners get treated way better. My father and I travel 77 miles to a Ram dealer that values all of their customers.

I love those tests.
Know which one I would rather be driving in that situation?
The one that has the wheels on the ground.
I'm fine with frame flex and articulation.
Stupid tests.
Irrelevant.

It's especially interesting that back when Tundra sales were blowing up, ford used frame strength as a selling point over the tundra... but now in the super duty twisting is ok?

What would happen if you had say 6,000 lbs in the back of the Ram? Would it damage the frame? Would the frame bend and crack welds? I honestly don't know. Seems to be some degree of flex would be a good thing.

My old Ram has carried 2 pallets of 80 lb. concrete, at the same time, and still going! Made a couple trips since then....

I just bought a new 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie 4x4.
I was a Ford 1/2 ton 4x4 guy through 5 new trucks. 1 every 3 years. I mostly picked Fords because I always got a good fleet discount through work. My last truck was a 2013 F150 Platinum 4x4 Ecoboost.

We sold our Class A DP and decided to go to truck and fifth wheel. That meant getting into a larger diesel truck.

I first looked at the Ford F-350 Lariat because of our fleet discount. My first opinion of this truck was "Nice Power" however, I didn't like the look of the truck interior or exterior. Even though the Lariat is in the upper echelon in Ford's line up, I couldn't get past the feeling that it was like a dressed up "Rig Truck". I didn't like the chiseled, angled corners on everything. Forgive me Ford guys, but the front grill reminded me of a big pig snout. (Just my opinion)
I also didn't like the exhaust brake set up. It felt weak to me and a concern because I was looking at about a 16,000 lb. 5th wheel to pull.
I had the truck to test drive for 3 days.

Out of curiosity, I went across the street to the Chrysler/Ram dealership. I looked at a new 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie 4x4. Immediately I liked the look of the exterior. On getting into the interior, It had a real classy look to it. The model I looked at had the tan leather interior with brown leather accents. This blew away the F350 by a huge margin. The Ram Laramie package in the Ram also included many more options than the Ford Lariat.
In my 3 day test drive, I put the truck through its paces. Although the Ram didn't feel like it had the power of the F350, I was already leaning its way because of the look, amenities and overall feel I had driving the truck. The Rams exhaust brake set up was amazing. I could bring the truck down to almost a full stop on a 10% grade decline. The Cummins 6.7 runs strong and you can just feel the torque this truck has.

I took a brief look at GMC or Chev lines. Wasn't overly impressed. (Again, just my opinion)

But, after much online research, it came down to the 2015 Ram 3500 and the 2015 Ford F350. The GMC and Silverado diesels, never made the cut by a big margin. The deciding factors for our 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie 4x4 were "Highest" Payload, "Highest" Towing, "Highest" Horsepower and "Highest" Torque of the big 4 Diesel Truck Manufacturers.
Fit, finish and style of the Ram 3500 Laramie was by far the best over the Ford F350. The last thing that was the deal breaker and assured the final pick was the Ram was the fact the F350 wouldn't fit in my garage LOL. It was 3" longer.

I've had my new Ram truck for 1.5 months now, have towed my 16,000 Cardinal and the truck barely even knows it's pulling something. A new realization is I get almost 4 miles to the gallon better gas mileage with the 2015 Ram 3500 with 6.7 Cummins diesel than I got in my 2013 Ford F150 4x4 with gas Ecoboost.

Every time I get in it and drive it, I've got a grin from ear to ear!

I agree with most of what you said but the deal breaker for me was the Ram won't fit in my garage. I purchased the Ford F350 SuperCab with the 143.5 wheel base with several inches shorter than the Ram. I traded in a 2013 Chevy diesel 2500HD...
