Did you know that the Northwest Angle of Minnesota is the only part of the US outside of Alaska that is north of the 49th parallel? Also, to get to it, you have to go from Minnesota into Canada and back into Minnesota?

Did you know that Ohio was technically not admitted to the United States as a State until 1953, and was still a part of the Northwest Territory until then?

Ohio petitioned for statehood in 1803, but Congress forgot to pass legislation ratifying its constitution. For 150 years Ohio had representation in the House and Senate, voted for President, and acted as a state, but was actually the 48th state admitted to the Union, followed only by Alaska and Hawaii.

Born in Ohio, Presidents William Henry Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William Howard Taft, and Warren G. Harding were not actually eligible to be President when they served.

In 1953, Congress got around to approving Statehood for Ohio, making the approval retroactive to 1803.

Did you know that if the sun all of a sudden disappeared, we wouldn't know for 8 minutes since it takes sunlight that long to travel here?

Did you know that the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham was written in response to a challenge made to the author, Theodor Geisel, by editor Bennett Cerf, to write a book using no more than 50 words?

By the way, Theodor Geisel's pen name is really his middle name: Theodor Seuss Geisel. Seuss was his mother's maiden name.

and back to camping, did you know that California and Alaska have the most national parks at 9 and 8 respectively.

Bonus round: The most visited National Park is the Great Smokey Mountains which has more than double the amount of visitors than the second most visited which is The Grand Canyon.

Did you know that Acadia National Park in Maine is the only national park comprised of 100% donated land?

YES! EXACTLY!

I have argued that point with my wife. There is no "south Detroit". anything south of Detroit is Windsor, Ontario.

Did you know it costs the U.S. Mint almost twice as much to mint each penny and nickel as the coins are actually worth. Taxpayers lost over $100 million in 2013 just through the coins being made.

The United States has a one cent coin, not a penny. It says so right on it.
