People falling/slipping on ice and snow may be funny to someone watching this video, but having fallen on ice myself sometime ago,I will have to say that it's not funny if you are the one falling.

A lot of people die or suffer serious from falls on ice and snow each year.

Especially having heart attacks while scooping the white stuff. Not for me anymore, if I want to see snow, I will watch television and to feel cold, I'll stick my hand in the freezer.

Yeah - shoveling the stuff is another thing that can cause health problems.

Most of our inclement weather here in D/FW is ice and sleet. When I was still working and ice/sleet was predicted, the car stayed in the garage regardless of whatever meeting or project was scheduled that day.

Plus Uncle Sam is usually good about shutting the offices down or sending employees home early if inclement weather was predicted.

Some old timer from the North once told me that he was going to hang a snow shovel on the back of his motor home and drive South until someone asked him what it was.

Watching the city transit bus sliding downhill on the ice brought back memories for me. I hated driving on ice. It was the main reason I transferred from the bus division to the Metrolink commuter train division. I got a kick out of watching that video and it had me laughing out loud.

I swear, I fall on the ice every year. It's gotten to the point I just get it out of the way soon as I can.

I marvel at the idiots who stand on the brakes on ice. You ain't gonna stop, but if your wheels are turning, you have a modicum of control. You might be able to select what you crash into. But with all 4 wheels locked up, you are at the mercy of Sir Isaac Newton.

So very true. On ice the front wheels must be turning to have any chance of steering.

There are a lot of people who haven't thought about what could happen and what to do. They may have had a class in high school but forgot since how to react. Now, when they get into a situation they react in a panic, going from being the driver to another passenger.

All we can do, if we have thought about what to do is to share that knowledge with our loved ones and friends in hope they are prepared.

OP did a good thing sharing this as a "don't forget what to do" moment.
