Hold my beer and watch this.....

I know we're all done some bone-head things but I may have just shot into the lead.

I'm about to replace the belt driven fan on my towed Suzuki Sidekick with an electric fan from Summit Racing. At 10 pm I opened the box and proudly showed this beautiful ten blade, 16", 2,500 CFM to my DW who was reading her romance novel in bed.

"That's it?" she said, implying that it was some type of plastic toy! That's it indeed! Hmmph! So I marched straight into the garage to get a small 12V battery. That's it indeed, I'll make a believer out of her!

Stood the fan up on the bed and touched the wires to the battery. Man! That thing went from 0 to 150 mph in less than a second! The torque tore it from my grasp and sent it towards my chest. Broke a fan blade and tore a 10" hole in my shirt. I'm very lucky I didn't lose a nipple, or, at my age, a man-boob!

Just ordered a replacement blade for this brand new $132 fan. Ran me $41 plus shipping. Lesson learned and stupidity fine paid.......

Kinda reminds of the guy whose brother got his nipple but off by a beaver...

That's funny right there! I have several of those stories myself. One being my son, who whas 4-5 at the time had left the gas on to his motorcycle. So, while waiting on my girlfriend to get ready to go out, I decided I would start it up and run the gas out. Mind you, this is a 50cc pro bike and will scoot. So I'm running it around my drive and just as my GF comes out of the house, I hit the throttle and my keys (which were in my hand) got lodged between the brake and throttle, held it wide open, and I'm heading straight for the chain link fence. Next moment, I'm on my back with this tiny bike in the air running like crazy. She did end up marrying me, so there is that!

This is a "literal" "hold my beer and watch this" moment. Just to be sure...I am still here to talk about it, and I drove the car back to my dorm. I call this my "Dukes of Hazard" jump. Complete with the orange car (a '71 Honda Sport Coupe). This was in Japan, circa 1981. Back when I was young, dumb and single. (Beer was involved...one of this things I look back on and wonder why??)

I was visualizing that in my mind and started laughing.
Thanks for sharing your story, I think we are kindred spirits...
