OK that vehicle could only have been taken into IMC accidentally. It would have probably been operated under part 103. I imagine she was caught unaware of lowering ceilings and was caught by spatial disorientation. I am glad no flying monkeys were injured in the incident.

So what would the registration numbers look like on that type of ultralight aircraft?

I am just glad I am not the instructor who got the call "please meet us at the FSDO and bring ALL your log books, and certificates.

BTW Saints 35 Dallas 10... I'm going to bed.

Yes - operated under 14 CFR 103.

As per 14 CFR 103.7 (c) ultralight vehicles are not required to be registered, thus no markings required.

I was a young FAA inspector in the Lubbock FSDO in the 1980's when Ultralights were starting to get popular. We had two Ultralight fatalities in one day in the Midland,Texas area.

Now Saints 42 - Cowgirls 17

Loving it.

I guess you can't call that parallel parking - more like vertical parking.

It is in PA. My niece just had to do it.

Speaking of parallel parking- I cannot pull into a spot and parallel park it unless it's HUGE. I have to go past the spot and back into it.

That's the way it goes here sometimes - but often the discussion doesn't reach the semi-intelligent level.

Thank God our kids were with me this weekend.

The NTSB issued a preliminary report, citing pilot error: Judy was flying a single engine aircraft in IFR (instrument flight rating) conditions while only having obtained a VFR (visual flight rating) rating.

The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient fuel on board.

No one on the ground was injured.

The photograph below was taken at the scene and shows the extent of damage to her aircraft.

She was very lucky.
Nice "dead stick" landing.

That is from frequent camp site parking. Once in a while you get a pull through but mostly
it is between big green leafy obstacles.

Well if Turbs hadn't made his silly comment about Tail Numbers it would have only been 34 posts.

Funny, my x had exactly the same model......I think her tail number had 666 in it. She wasn't just an ordinary flyer as she "flew off the handle" more often than not, that, and the "eye of toad tail of newt" for dinner every night.........

Try unhooking the trailer first.
