The first thing I did when we went to pick ours up was had them get a ladder and tape measure and tell me the height to the highest point on the camper. It's about 10'6" to the top of the A/C unit. I double checked it at home. As long as the sign is 11' or more I'm good.

Up near me is the Lake Ontario State Parkway. No commercial vehicles. There are a bunch of arched underpasses on it that are labeled for height for both lanes. (one side might be 11'6" the other might be 12'3") One time I got behind a tractor trailer that was running about 65mph.I gave him plenty of room because when he got to the first underpass he peeled the top corner off the entire length of the trailer.

The driver of the 5er looked like he drove away thinking that he just cleared it. Was that propane on the top of the bus?

Just as long as everyone knows that the height listed in the brochure is without the air conditioner or vent covers.

I did the 2x4 and tape nailed to the end trick with DW reading the "smart end" as well. 11 feet 10 inches to the front edge of my Coleman Mach III when hooked up.

BUT if the radio antenna is straight up, it will break the fluorescent bulbs and covers installed in 12 foot gas station canopies when you pull away.
Don't ask how I know.

Similar - this one apparently was the drivers first time out with a 5er.

It's my nightmare. I have to remind myself when I am towing to watchout for things like that. I would love to have one of those poles that use when escorting vehicles that checks that clearance.

That wasn't propane leaking from the vehicle...it was freon.
