I was pondering this thought.
Why is the Department of the Interior in charge of everything outdoors?

How come "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean the same?
A friend taught English as a second language at the high school level. She used this example - two sentences:
"Time flies like the wind". She explained the figurative concepts, etc. Then she said "OK, change "time" to "fruit" and change "the wind" to "bananas". The result is "Fruit flies like bananas". That's very difficult to explain, in English, to a bunch of Japanese high school students. Fortunately she was fluent in Japaneses also, so could explain it that way.
