Anyone remember the "Dallas Cowboys TV Antenna" that was claimed to capture home Cowboys games when they were blacked out locally due to low ticket sales?

My daughter tries to play that game using the new bugs. I tell her that is not a punch buggie. I miss playing padiddle (?spelling). My DD (turning 8 tomorrow) gets mad because I tell her she can only watch TV and play with her electronics when camping before we get up and sometime between campfire and bed. Last camping trip she was "bored" despite having a site with a huge play area, and a lakefront beach site. Really?

Not learned, assumed. I admit she is spoiled having a nabi (kid safe tablet), a Nintendo 3ds, and she gets a portable DVD player in the car. She just wants it continued to the campground. Ongoing battle that she never wins and the tears flow every time. Then she finds something fun and off she goes.

Not only was I the remote, I also had to go outside and turn the big antenna depending on which channel we were watching.

I guess my parents won the lottery, as I can remember us getting an electric antenna turner that you could use from inside the house.

Talking about television, could you imagine putting those 2 ton tv's of the day in our trailers. Sure wouldn't be hanging those on the walls.

We did too just before I went to college, but guess who had to get up and turn the antenna control?

Well, if you have the same batwing antenna as I have in my trailer, you probably still are the antenna turner...as I am. We learned young.

Got the Jacks, sometimes I raise it and mess with it and other times just leave it down and take what it receives which is usually just as good as messing with it. It is so much better that the batwing, it's not even funny.

Yep, getting a television was a social event back then. You usually had to invite neighbors or family over to help you move one, and then ended up cooking dinner for everyone to pay them.......and everybody then got to watch the TV.

That's also when the TV repairman came to your house.

I can sit here and still remember the smell of a tube burning up on one.

Burned out tubes smelled like rotten eggs. And remember when vertical hold went out? Picture would roll & roll & roll & roll. You could turn set off for a little while & let it cool off, turn back on & the roll would stop…………………for a little while.
