People never look underneath their vehicles (or check tire pressure) for the most part, my wife included.

A while back she ran down a squirrel and it got lodged between the converter and the body pan and she was complaining to me about this 'terrible smell' her car was making so I got underneath and discovered a cooked squirrel. I like crock pot squirrel stew but not catalytic converter squirrel.

Curious though, how do you tell 'your' tires from 'their' tires?
Every tire has a serial number. Easy for a dealer to check if he installed them.

Had one today. Car came in for a brake fluid change and when lifted we found a BOLT thru the bottom of the gas tank. Had about two inches sticking out but perfectly sealed off. Customers response: it wasn't like that when I brought it in here!

I guess since a holiday is coming up, We're going to get our Monday customers today. Got double whacked in a row.

1. Had lady come in here asking if we could find out if she had a bad tire as her vehicle was shaking. We put it on the lift, and found two tires separated mildly. Once we asked her if she needs to buy two tires, she informs us that she only came to us to find the bad tires, because Wal-Mart couldn't. She was about to go back and tell them which two to replace, and buy the tires from them.

2. Had another young woman call me on the phone, and I knew who she was from last week, cause she kind of acted like she may have been on something at that time. We had dismounted 4 tires for her last week, as she said she was selling the rims. When she called back today, she asked if I remembered her, and then told me she didn't sell the rims so she needed the tires mounted back on them. I gave her the price, and she went off, stating was I really going to charge her to remount the tires, that she paid to have dismounted last week? I told her, yes, that we had to charge for our labor, and she got real condescending to me. Kept telling me, in a louder and louder tone, to "have a wonderful day". I finally got enough and told her I would, and same to her, before hanging up. She called back, and hung up on me.

It's not even lunch time yet. LOL

It's a long story I won't bore you with, but back in the day the company I used to work for made us start saying when we answered the phone... It's a great day at NAPA(spoken N A P A). It lasted for a while.

Yep gotta love civilization... It is amazing we have managed to populate this planet for as long as we have... I learned long ago people are crazy.. And getting worse with entitlement.

Have an 18 year old female driving in the neighboring agency who was just shot and killed over a lane merger in rush hour.. More I keep at this the more I want to smack some folks.

Doh!
Remember when I asked you some tire questions, I wrote "BTW, if a lady brings a worn-out tire she bought at another shop and asked for a refund, be sure to break away from your advice giving and join that merriment! "

Once the 2nd lady pays for anything, that should cover anything she ever wants/needs in the future!

Dan, actually there are many people like that. They don't feel that a particular business transaction concludes at the point of payment.

I may do extra for customers to keep them coming back, but some feel that you "owe" them once they pay you.

It's too bad you don't charge an inspection fee that will be removed if they follow through and purchase. I do understand why mechanics do this.

I think we did it to ourselves. We came to this land and civilized it by mitigating the big cats, bears and other natural predators. Consequently we have people walking among us that should not be here.

doc I agree with you. Sad...

I hate to point fingers, but I think that the origins to the downfall of society in general can be traced back to the exact moment my ex was born.
