Today's youth

Rick, fresh out of engineering school, went to a interview for a good paying job.

The company boss asked various questions about him and his education, but then asked him, "What is three times seven?"

"22," Rick replied.

After he left, he double-checked it on his calculator
(he *knew* he should have taken it to the interview!)
and realized he wouldn't get the job.

About two weeks later, he got a letter that said he was hired for the job!

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but he was very curious.

So,the next day, he went in and asked why he got the job, even though he got such a simple question wrong.

The boss shrugged and said, "Well, you were the closest."

Also don't ask them how to tell time on an analog clock. They can only read the numbers on a digital clock.

Anyone who would like to see that all this has been foretold need only look to the work of Ayn Rand. Try reading "Atlas Shrugged" f

I am on book 3 while reading it for the 2nd time. First time was in the 70s.

Written in 1949 and is so "right on" it makes my knees weak.

The movie released recently (available now on Netflix) got me thinking about reading it again.

How many times have the clerk given 90 cents back in change using mostly dimes? They usually can relate to using 2 quarters but then have problems with using another quarter, 1 nickle and 1 dime so instead you end up with 4 dimes.

If you really want to confuse them:
  • Toss in a nickle or other coin when paying to avoid getting back almost a dollar in loose coins.
  • Ask to have the price checked since it rings up higher than it should. Clerk takes the item to another register and returns stating that it rings up at the same price. This happens every so often and I still end up shaking my head. They don't understand that if it is advertised at a certain price but rings up higher something is not right.
  • Ask them what the tax rate is. I was being charged 50% higher than the advertised price and the reason given was due to tax (which was actually 7.75%).

I am a member of the Millennial generation. We are all not dumb. But that being said I wish I could buy a piece of property and cut off 90% of the world. The more I deal with idiot people the less I want to.

Each generation tend to remember the "good old days" where the younger generation often does not relate to. This was true with my grandparents’ generation, then my parents’ generation & now my own generation. Each generation has its own skills of expertise to offer. And with new skills some of the older skills become a thing of the past.

Technology is great but we become very dependent upon it, most so as time goes on. With that said each generation has its own strength to offer. When I need help with my smartphone I seek out a younger person. Multi-tasking is very different today than it was when I was in my 20’s.

Kids tend to replicate their parents, by what they are taught, or by example. I'm proud of my children.

Well when Kids are having kids then what can one expect. Most of us older people have lived longer by accident then most of the younger kids have live on perpose, what decisions can a young parent make and guide there kids into the future, they have not lived long enough to know what live is all about. Everything that is new tech today came from hard work in the past, everything starts from the basics. Back in the day you had to know what a 9 looks like and what an"X" stands for in math, but now all the need to know is where and what buttons to push and come up with an answer and I bet they don't know how to check to see if they have the right answer....This is the way of the world

I have a couple of engineer buddies, and they live in a perfect world. However I live in a REAL WORLD and it ain't perfect.

The hardest thing to do by an engineer- bite your tongue!
They think that just because something is rated at a certain point and uses a fancy term it will work, but what ever is used in reality is far from what they invisioned.

I agree.

This discussion is "over the top" for a humor forum; maybe even an RV forum. The national debate going on recently has myself and many members here on pins and needles.

We are easily distracted from "around the campfire" appropriate chat to bumping up against forum rules against issues that stir members to posts that are inflammatory in nature and may bait members into posts that indeed do cross the line.

My references to Ayn Rand's literature are not appropriate for the forum and are definitely controversial when applied in this context.

I have definitely been out of line and I apologize to the membership.
While I feel strongly about many things happening in current events, this is not the venue to have the discussion.

I have given myself " a spank" and, with apologies to the OP, I will now close the thread.
