Wonder if the Trailer Warranty Dept. said the tires were changed from "C" load rated tires to "D" load rated tires and balanced, thus the welds on the trailer coupler failed. Warranty claim denied!

Looks like frame failure as there is no coupler or pintail .

I agree on that comment.. The "warranty" issue was stupid..or just a lawyer answer.

Everyone is commenting on the failure of the trailer, but I gotta say WOW! Look how straight it is tracking!. I've see old guys pulling trailers that couldn't pull that straight intentionally.

Some years ago I was monitoring local PD radio.
They responded to an "abandoned boat and trailer".
As I listened they decided it had probably come un-coupled
from an RV and coasted pretty much un-damaged onto the left
median next to the guardrail. They ran the plate and it was from Indy.
They called the home and no answer because those folks had been
on I 65 south in Louisville when it happened.
Wonder how far they got before they realized they lost their boat???

Many years ago, we were on I-64, coming north out of Norfolk, VA when a 30' U-haul trailer being towed by a truck just ahead of us came off the hitch. It went across the lane to our right, up the grass bank next to the highway then came back down, crossed both lanes and ended up in the median. Everyone managed to avoid it, and the trailer had minor damage to the front end where it hit the guardrail dividing the two carriageways.
The next thing we saw was the truck backing down the shoulder. I think the driver just hooked it back up and continued, but I bet he hooked the safety chains up!

What is even more amazing is that the person recording it choose to pass then get in front of it. It the tongue hit a pothole while he was passing it would be all over.
