2008 Salem Sport power inverter

When plugged in to 110v my batteries will not charge. They will charge when hooked to the truck while towing but go dead even when plugged in to 110v. Everything 12v works. Is the power inverter bad?

you're talking about the CONVERTER, not the inverter.
an inverter is a different thing that you plug 110v AC items into, so you can run them on 12v DC battery power.
all RV's come with converters, but few come with inverters. usually only motorhomes.

you need to use a multimeter to test how much is being supplied to the batteries, from the converter.
how do you know if the converter is not charging the battery? you said all the 12v stuff works, but is that the case when you're NOT plugged into shore power?
unless you have a special setup or tow the trailer for hours, your truck will only provide a trickle charge at best.

All the 12 volt items work when plugged into 110v until the batteries go dead. When the batteries get low I have to hook up a battery charger. Last time I used the trailer, I plugged it in 2 days before leaving. The battery level was 1/3. After being plugged in to 110 for 24 hours the batteries were dead. When I store the trailer I always use the disconnect switch so the batteries will hold what ever charge they have when being parked
