Actual vs sticker weights

hello all a new bee here. i have a F37 sandpiper sport. an i was wondering about weight. i added 2300 lbs to my trailer and was at maximum weight. acording to the sticker. but the sticker says that i can add ~4000lbs.

how much stuff doyou have to remove to get it to the weight on the sticker?
i am going to weight the trailer with nothing in it later today willl post results

are the stickers realy this far off.

looking foward to input from all

Different camper, of course- but here's what I found from a set of weightings (empty, partially loaded, heavily loaded):
  1. Dry weight:
    • Advertised dry weight: 11,840 lbs.
    • Yellow sticker dry weight: 12,239 lbs.
    • Actual weighed dry weight: 12,440 lbs.
  2. Dry pin/hitch weight:
    • Advertised dry pin/hitch weight: 1,825 lbs. (15.4%)
    • Actual weighed dry pin/hitch weight: 1,840 lbs. (14.8%)
  3. And now, reality:
    • My camper's weight: 13,860 - 14,820 lbs.
    • My pin/hitch weight: 2,300 - 2,540 lbs. (16.6% - 17.1%)

this statement is confusing. which stickers are you talking about?
you say the sticker says you were at max weight and then you say the sticker says you can add 4000lbs. how can one sticker say two different things?
can you post pics of what you're talking about?

This is the yellow sticker, FYI and is the accurate Dry weight leaving the factory. Does NOT include propane, water, batteries but does include factory installed options. In my case the dry weight is as stated and my going down the road weight is 9280 LOADED. My Trailer GVWR is 9950.

So the yellow sticker is the absolute least your trailer will ever weigh, unless you remove something like the spare tire.

As it left the factory, you can add some 4,000 pounds of additional stuff to the Unladen (Unloaded) Vehicle Weight (UVW) without overtaxing THE CAMPER. Not to say whether it will be towable by your Tow Vehicle.

If you added mods, that comes off of payload remaining as it left the factory.

well you have 4087lbs. left over, if you have full propane tanks and full FW tank. figure two batteries will use up the 87lbs.

so, you have 4000lbs. for everything else you add to the trailer. food, clothes, stuff, Toys, etc...
so not sure where you got that the 2300lbs. maxed you out.

one thing is that it doesn't reflect what the hitch/pin weight is, on the sticker. you could be over on that number. this is a VERY important number when towing a toyhauler.

and ditto to what Herk said.

and you haven't posted what you're towing with and its specs.

My yellow sticker weight is about 500 lbs higher than the advertised dry weight.

i got the 2300 lbs from putting 2 quads in 1 dirt bike and 100 gal of water that was about 2300lbs. i weghted the truck and trailer to gether 23200 is what it weighted. minus 7200 for truck and passangers. that leaves 16000lbs sticker wieght is 15900.

here is the problem, that is all i added. no foood, clothes. only 5 gal or less of propane, only 10 gal gas in fuleing station. the sticker says with full fuel tank and generator full of oil also.

now i am trying to figure out how much was not in when the factory weighted the trailer. cause it loos like i have to remove 1700lbs of stuff to there.

this is why i am bothered buy this sticker

i am getting a lot of information here keep it coming

So did you weigh the truck without the camper on its back?
Did you weigh the camper connected without the toys onboard?
Sounds like the sticker is not the problem; but the load plan.

I included a Word form that I use to keep track of my weights (truck and camper). This one shows I needed to put the camper on a diet.

Here are some threads that apply to your issue:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ale-39388.html

Remember you need multiple passes with the SAME LOAD. This is best done all at the same time by weighing both connected; then off the scale; drop the trailer and weigh just the truck. (Costs an extra dollar for a reweigh within 24 hours.)

Front truck wheels on plate one; rear wheels on plate two and camper wheels on plate 3.

A travel trailer needs 3 passes and a 5th wheel needs two.

Travel trailer:

Pass one: Truck with camper connected - WD bars ON

Pass two: Truck with camper connected - WD bars in the pickup's bed

Pass three: Truck only (2 plates used) - drop travel trailer in lot and go back and weigh.

5th wheel:

Pass one: Truck and Camper connected

Pass two: drop camper and weigh truck only.

For toy haulers I would add another with the toys removed.

Herk, nice work sheet, hope you don't mind if I shamelessly steal it, a lot cleaner than the spreadsheet I was using.

Don't worry! Mine was adapted from another's work.
While it might be called plagiarism if we were authors, here it is called synergy.

Wow, you guys carry a lot of heavy stuff....lol.

Considering we normally stay at State parks with hook ups, I carry very little if any water. Swimming gear, snorkels, shorts, tank tops, flip flops, hats, suntan lotion, lawn chairs, bikes, food for three or four days, and BEER ! ........and were off!!
