Another rookie question

Time for another rookie question.

Regarding the furnace and the water heater, do they heat only using propane? Or will they use electric if they are hooked up to shoreline power? This is specifically for the XLR Nitro if there's a difference in the FR lines.

Thanks.

No they are all the same the furnace is 12 volt and propane only, the H/W is both electric or propane. You can run them both at the same time when you shower for a faster recovery. You should have a black switch at the heater itself for electrical if not on your inside panel, but your propane will be on the panel for sure. Before you switch to electric make sure you tank is full or you will burn out your heating element just that fast.

Your furnace will only heat with propane, but your water heater will heat from 'either' propane or with shore power. Both also require 12v as well so your battery will need to be engaged or be connected to shore power so that your converter can provided the necessary 12v.

I'll check at the heater for the switch. There is only one switch on the panel for the water heater. I assume it's on/off since it appears to be the same as the others. There is a light next to it on the panel marked DSI/FLT I believe. Perhaps that light indicates whether it is running on electric or LP?

Found that this light is basically for indicating that the pilot isn't lit.

The indoor switch would be only for the LP side of your water heater. The electric switch is accessible by removing the vent panel on the outside of your rig. You should find a small black rocker switch.. possibly with a small cotter pin locking it in the off position. Remove the pin and flip the switch to turn on the electrical heating element. As was mentioned, verify that the tank is full of water before turning on the electric.

Generally the furnace is only propane. Hot water heaters will vary. Some have the option to heat with electric but not all. You will need to check your specific model.

The light next to the interior switch is the fault light for the propane. If this is on, it means the water heater tried to run on propane put could not get it to light.

Also on our XLR Thunderbolt the elec. water heater switch behind the panel is mislabeled. When the switch in the off position the elec is on and when in the on position it is actually off. Took awhile to figure that one out.
