Damaged Bridge

Has anyone traveled I40 East from Asheville to Greensboro and ran over a bridge that had a bulge causing a ramp effect. I ran over it on Friday of this past week. It scared me caused my truck to jump rear wheels off ground. I just knew I broke something. I was able to pull off road about 10 miles down road to check on everything. Nothing noted to the naked eye as of yet. Then when I got home I noticed the 5th wheel moved some. I'm trying to locate that bridge if anyone has traveled it. It was also in the fast lane I40 East.

Just a guess here. But I'll throw in my .02 worth.

I quit racing ATVs this year. But last year, we had several races in the Hickory and Morganton area. Never drove past exit 105 in Morganton. But on the way home, the bridge over the river just east of exit 138 was quite a hit. But we never hit one so hard that we had problems.

Can't say I've been over that but sounds scary. I do stay out of the left lane most of the time though.

I've been over the bridge. There is warnings about it posted ... but way before ... slowed way down but it was in the left lane... didn't see anyone fly over it

They need to get that repaired ASAP, before someone gets killed. Image hitting that at speed, at night, while towing.

This thread was posted in October 2016. The video is from Minnesota in April 2016. I just drove I40 last week ! Hammer down no wheeeeeeeee !

I think the bridge that you were referring to is in Statesville North Carolina right before you get to I-77 traveling 40 East towards Greensboro I have gone over that bridge myself with my travel trailer and thought that I had broke something as well I did have the coffee pot Fallout and hit the slide trim and knocked a chunk of wood out of it. I now travel that direction at about 45 miles an hour when going through that area
