Drill holes for added Happijack heights (upper bed)?

I'd like to keep the lower setting/level for the upper bunk and add a way to keep the upper bunk down about two feet from ceiling ( 10-12" below the upper pin stop setting ) .
Would it damage / hurt / be safe to just drill extra pin holes ?
I was informed and then read in the manual that its possible to to adjust the stop that is screwed inside the track, but that would just move the current lower setting which Id like to keep.

there should be no problem doing that. I had pins for mine that I used to keep the upper bunk all the way up, see no reason those holes couldn't have been lower.
