New hauler, 1st problem

Hello.
I picked up my new toy hauler Monday from the dealership. This morning I went to open the gas cap for the fueling station and the cap fell apart in my hand. I tried calling my dealer's parts dept and was told that they didn't have part numbers for that. So next step, I called Forest River. Left a message, but have not heard back yet. I've searched but had no luck finding any info online. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

I added a few pic of the new rig

Post a pic of the cap. i'm sure it's commercially available at Napa Auto or a farm supplier.

Take the cap to the local auto parts store to have them match it up.
Good luck hearing anything back from Forest River. I haven't heard a reply from them in 6 months. No customer service.

I lost my gas cap to my auxiliary tank on a trip. Went to Napa or Autozone or somewhere (I think I was in New Mexico, or maybe Colorado, or some state. Don't remember. LOL). They let me try this one and that one till I found one that fit. Cost $10.00.

Went to one parts store already. Employee was useless. Can't pull it up in the computer, can't help you. Not even willing to look at what they have. Gonna try another place tomorrow.

I replaced the gas cap on my toy hauler with a locking one. Either take the cap with you, or a good picture, and match the threading on the one's at any auto store. Really don't need the employee's. Any of the big stores will have what you need.

Forest River will be useless in helping you on this. And for a $5-10 part, is not worth the hassle.

Let us know if you get one and where, for future reference.
Side note: if taking pics to post on here, make sure to turn phone sideways...(shoot wide) this site doesn't like the vertical images for some reason and you can't rotate them.

So sorry for your bad luck. But if this is all that breaks good for you. So many nightmare stories of owners with much worse things happening. FInally after four years everything that has broken (or came that way from the factory) on our toy hauler, we fixed or replaced at our cost. The dealer make many thng worse!

Looks like a multiple use STANT gas cap to me. Take it to a NAPA store and they can probably fix you up with a replacement. Also, you can always post the pics on the STANT Corporation Facebook page and ask them to identify it for you.

Yep, looks like a common screw on cap. Go to an auto part with your cap ask for a 2004 F150/250 gas cap.

I agree, first thing I did was replace mine with the STANT locking one. Where I store my TH, the place said that while they have lights, and cameras, it has happened twice where someone reported fuel stolen from them. I am mostly concerned with someone putting something in though... Anyhow, cheap insurance.
