New Toy Hauler Has Arrived

Got a phone call from the dealer today and he said that our new hauler had arrived. Unfortunately we are not going to be able to take delivery on it until August 12th. We are going to the dealer on Saturday and spend a couple of hours and go over the toy hauler with a fine tooth comb and if we find any problems they will have a whole week to get them repaired. I wish we could take it home with us on Saturday but I want it to be right when we do. When we took delivery on our 06 Fifth Wheel we were so excited to get it that we did not look it over very well and had to take it back to the dealer for several repairs which were under warranty but it still is a pain to have to take it back to the dealer so I am going to be more observant with this camper. Our Toy Hauler is a Forest River Work and Play Model WPT30WR 31.5 feet long not including the tongue with a dry weight of 8800 lbs. I will be towing with a 02 Chevy Silverado EC 2500HD Duramax/Allison. Sure hope that I have enough truck to do the job because I do not want to trade trucks. Just thought I would share my good news. Below is a photo of it at the dealers. Can't wait to get it.

Congrats on the new TH! The one that we got last year is always fun to take out. We haul the HD's with us for more fun times. I know that it will be great.

Looks sweet. The pardette and I just bought a Puma Unleashed 27SBU so we know just how much you are going to enjoy your TH.

Work & Plays are really nice units. A friend of mine has a smaller one that he drags to Sturgis for the big Harley rally and he also uses it for our cowboy matches too. It is a little smaller than yours but most THs that is a relative thing as you know.

While he is pulling his with a Dodge 5.9l 4x4 I cannot imagine that a Duramax 6.6 would notice your Work & Play behind it. A Silverado diesel was built to handle bigger things than what you have...

Toy Hauler

Thanks everyone for the replies. The wife and I are pretty excited about getting it and even more excited that we can take our motorcycles with us. We love to ride as much as we like to camp and now we can have the best of both worlds. Glenn5995 that 06 Rockwood looks exactly like my 06 Flagstaff Fifth Wheel Model 8528BHSS that we are trading on the Toy Hauler. Does it have the rear bunks with its own room. We liked ours and it was good for sleeping several people and it towed like a dream but it is pretty much just going to be me and the wife going on the trips from now on. One daughter (25) just got married and is moving to California in September because her husband is in the Air Force and our 21 year old is moving out of the house in a couple of months and the mother in law used to go with us but she is now in a nursing home so we will soon be empty nesters. Below is a photo of our fifth wheel that we are trading

What kind of mileage were you getting with the Duramax towing and not towing...

Don't know what kind of mileage I am getting towing because I have not towed anything with it yet. I had a 02 Chevy Dually That I was pulling the fifth wheel with but I sold it and was trying to sell the fifth wheel but was having no luck so I purchased the current truck that I have now and was going to start towing the 5er but we decided to trade it on the hauler which we have been waiting on over a month. I have only had the truck a little over 3 months. With my dually diesel I was getting around 12 mpg towing but this toy hauler is a little heavier so I don't think I will get that good. When I start towing I will keep and eye on it and let you know. I mostly just drive it once a week just to keep everything in working order.

Thanks Viper. We bought the GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 today. I will get some pretty good figures soon since I will install my ScanGauge and calibrate it the new vehicle.

I love the ScanGauges. They do a great job of helping you drive your TV efficiently...

When we bought our 5er it was the only model on the lot we liked and no other dealers had this particular model. 3 months later the dealer is still waiting for a replacement unit. The service dept. was so backed up if we wanted any 'special' work done we would be put on a call list with a 2 month wait. Our choice was to take the trailer 'as is', and deal with any problems at a later winter month or let the guy behind me with his cheque book out have this one. It has a few inside visual flaws that you notice after you have been it for a while but so far we have had no mechanical problems what-so-ever. You are lucky to be able to handle your purchase the way you are. I know you will enjoy your TH and have fun, fun, fun!
