Tailgate for Porch

Anybody tried to use their tailgate for a porch? Wife and I stayed at a campground this past week-end, beautiful site next to creek. We used the tailgate for a porch, after I propped it up with firewood. Wondering if anybody has found suitable jacks for this purpose? Need to be as short as 12 inches, adjustable to 24 inches. Looked at several options, just wondering if anyone has had any success. Thanks.

windrider,
Nice set-up.

Hard to find a jack in the measurement range you stated, that wouldn't look too out of place mounted on the tailgate.

The stabilizers below may work with pads placed under them for more reach.
The step stabilizer jack below supports 750 lbs. each. These can be bolted to the tailgate and fold up neatly for transport. The range is 8.5" - 16".

there are some weekend warriers and some Jayco's that have a cable system to hang the ramp on and then supply a screen room

Thanks for your replies and your research. That post is pretty old, over 10 months. I have since gotten 2 scissor jacks, hollowed out a 2x4 where the rubber bumpers on top of the rear gate will fit in the hollowed out section, mounted the jacks to the 2x4 with thumbscrews, and now have a prop for my tailgate, that is adjustable. It may now work for everyone, but it works for me. I put some pictures in a folder with my profile. Thanks again for the suggestions. As for mounting something to the ramp, I was afraid to drill through it. Seems to be an aluminum skeleton with plywood on both sides.
