Anybody near there, I suggest going to the grand opening. We went to a camping world grand opening when they took over a local dealership. Marcus lemonis was there. They gave away so much stuff. I'm not talking small things either. They gave away a pop-up. We got an electric tongue Jack for our old tt, a zero gravity recliner and a pillow pet. He literally drew names out of a bucket and then asked what you were shopping for that day. He either gave you that item, a shopping spree, money towards something, or a massive discount on an rv. We saw one lady fill an entire shopping cart for free. One of the items in her cart was a new toilet. Like I said, well worth attending.

I visited Tom Raper RV last weekend to spend the gift cards that I got for Christmas... just in case. I talked to a couple of folks there and while they have been told that their jobs are secure, they are understandably nervous. The folks from CW are supposed to be meeting with them this week. They assured me that this location will continue to sell and service the FR line of RV's. We just purchased a Roo in October.

Dandy no more...

On the west end of I-20 in Alabama there was until recently Dandy RV, a pretty large operation. We just got a flyer yesterday (we bought a coach from there in 2013) that it too is now a camping world...

I would be nice if CW came north and took over Liesure days chain. The competition would be good for the consumer.

I would also like to see Camping World come to Canada if they can bring all their product lines here. You'd think that they'd create great competition but we thought Target would be good competition for Wal-Mart up here and that didn't work out so well due to supplier chain issues. On the other hand, the Bass Pro Shop up here seems to do OK.

I suspect that the market for any recreational activity vehicles is so small up here that it's just not very attractive. Look at the motorcycle market for an example. I hear that Honda sells more motorcycles in Orange County than they do in all of Canada.

If you liked Tom Raper, you will not be happy with Camping World. I bought by TT from TR in April 2014 and they were great from the front desk all the way to parts and service. My return trip recently to have service work done was horrible and they seem to have lost a lot of the original TR employees. I caught wind that it was because many of them like the TR way but did not like the CW way and have left or were forced to leave.

I also used to walk into the parts store with my Amazon app open and show them the Amazon price and they would match it. I tried that at CW and they guy literally laughed at me. I have no interest in ever visiting them again even though they are 15 minutes from my house. I will drive the 1 hour to RV Wholesalers from now on for my needs.

They bought Tom Johnsons also early spring. If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em. Taking away the competition is not a good thing.

Camping World and Good Sam Announce Deal to Acquire Tom Raper RV Dealerships

Gotta say our experience with CW from purchase to warranty work to service has been nothing but first rate. Store prices are in the high side of competitive but not bad. We are happy with Hanover PA CW. No experience with any others though.
