I also got several that would not fit in the box for return. I called and they told me to just dispose of it as they requested them back but it is not mandatory.

My last replacement showed up Christmas Eve - the FedEx weather problems didn't impact my delivery! I placed claims for 4 1A-10BC extinguishers. Have now received 3 1A-10BC and 1 3A-40BC extinguishers as replacements. Obviously the 3A-40BC won't fit where the original was located...
One of my original extinguishers is missing its original safety pin. I stuck a nail thru the holes and bent it so it won't fall out.
While a couple of my original extinguishers are taller than the replacements, I'm going to pack as good as I can, maybe add some additional stuffing and drop them at the FedEx office.

Months later I have not received my replacement yet, called just after they put out the recall

Went to my dealer for our yearly inspection on our 5th wheel, ask them what they did about the recall in all their new trailers on their lot, their comment was "Let the New Owners do we don't have the time" Ugh !!!

Got my third and last one a day ago. Now I can call and have them picked up. Cannot imagine what this is costing Kidde. Probably got some kind of insurance to cover this kind of thing.

You can bet they do. It's called "Risk Management". Any business worth it's salt has this in their business plan.

Maybe.... it's not unheard of for a large company to be their own insurance. Rather than paying a 3rd party for loss insurance they save the premiums and roll the dice on whether their losses will exceed the expected premiums.

Kudos to Kidde for stepping up in this instance no matter where the money is coming from.

I just received the recall notice, today, from Forest River. I'm not complaining, as it was a MASSIVE recall. But thanks to this forum, I've had my replacements for quite a while. One in my TT and two in my house.

We got our recall today in the mail from FR as well. And as was stated earlier, thanks to this forum I was able to file a claim on-line and we have had our replacement now for a couple of months.

Better late than never........
