Hmmm, I called the FEDEX number, gave them my number off the shipping label and they knew exactly who, where I was. The girl said to just place them on the front step and they will be picked-up by 9:30 am the next morning. At 9:20 the FEDEX truck rolled up, and they were gone!

Other here had said that FEDEX Office, or FEDEX Kinko's wouldn't accept them. That's because they do not handle HAZMAT at those locations.

Who knows they picked mine up! Had to call a special phone # and put back in same box with the label on showing the picture of item! Maybe because I’m in N.C. I think it went to MEBANE NC which is only 30 miles from my location

That's what the instructions that came in the box said to do. They picked mine up at 8:30 am.

I wonder what they are going to do with all those returned extinguishers???

Yep, that's what I was saying, they picked mine up at my house! A total of 3, two different times.

Guess the bottom line is, call the number given and then follow thier direction...either they will pick it up or you will need to drop it off somewhere. Pretty easy deal either way.

Destroy them. They only want them back to get them out of circulation. They don't want you keeping it around and trying to use it should a fire occur or selling it and the buyer then trying to exchange it for another new one.

I'm sure after the beating they are taking in this, they just want to avoid any further costs or potential liability.

Standard Fedex will not pick them up. If you call fedex ground they should pick up.These can not go air so they are in a separate system.

Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

FedEx picked these up at our house, special pickup. They have to be sent back via FedEx ground. Not allowed on an aircraft according to our local FedEx office.

Regular Fed Ex vehicles do not have the hazmat placards necessary for transporting them. One phone call and they will send the truck to pick them up at the time you wish or just pick them up at the front door. Could not be easier.

I fully understand this, but it's funny never-the-less.

My TT doesn't have the hazmat placards, either, but that's apparently OK for transporting!

Does seem strange. Your TT or MH could have 2 or 3 extinguishers in them (not to mention your black tank) without a placard and that is okay with USDOT.
Maybe we should be careful, they might get some ideas.

Maybe, maybe not. Each person will have to check. In due time, FR will issue its own recall if they used any of these. I haven't checked yet but I think ours is a First Alert.
