Move to the other lane, America

North American Class 8 semi-truck orders hit 42,300 in September, up 92 percent from a year ago.

Yee Haaa! More of 'em, More of 'us', More highway construction.

Fun, Fun, Fun.

Yep.

Same with RV transport drivers. Thousands upon Thousands of trailers sitting on Transport company lots in Northern Indiana. Permanent "NOW HIRING" signs everywhere.

Kids are told "you ought to go to college". Then they go, get a Psychology or English degree, and make nothing. Meanwhile, tradesmen are living in big houses because there are so few of them.

World is skewed.

But somebody is living high, buying large, and needing shipments!

My nephews rig hit a 1,000,000 miles before they retired it. It didn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, but he loved driving it. American made Peterbilt.

I always tell my grandchildren when traveling on the interstate that the long lines of semis is a sign of America working..

Also ask them to tell me one thing they own or eat that did not arrive by truck...

Pic of a recent trip on I-75 just south of Chattanooga...

Been saying that for YEARS!! Who is gonna plumb and wire houses? Or lay block and brick? Here in our area they are FINALLY encouraging trade schools.

I understand what you're trying to say BUT I have one of those Psychology degrees and make 6 figures. I doubt I'd be doing as well without my degree.

Can I borrow some money?? LOL

MY point is that EVERYONE is told "go to college". You were a good candidate. Not many are. Meanwhile, you AND I are having trouble getting our cars, houses, RV's worked on or built or transported, our wells drilled, etc. Also, unless you have an advanced degree and a hung shingle, I'd wonder what you do to make that kind of money, with that degree. Not that it's any of my business, which it's not.

And we could argue all day how to increase jobs. However, I'd argue that adding jobs is not our problem...........

In September 2018, the unemployment rate fell to 3.7 percent. It was 3.8 percent in May, the lowest rate since April 2000.

Years ago, (when working in a stainless steel finishing plant), I would notice an increase in rail traffic when the economy was doing well.

The wages will go up. Supply and demand.

Can’t say much more without getting political. Not needed on this forum.

The topic WAS that they are building/selling more Semi Trucks, which impacts RV'ing. But it always tickles me that some folks shy away from anything that might "offend" them..whether it's a political discussion, someone walking through their campsite, a few fireworks on the 4th, or a million other things.

Sorry I brought it up to start with. This is a great site, but I enjoy sites where opinions can be voiced, and discussed. I learn a lot that way.

This is EXACTLY why we have the following guideline.

General discussions of politics, general government policies, weaponry, gun rights and religion are not allowed in ANY areas of the forum. Discussions about current or pending legislation or regulations, weapons and religion that directly pertain to RVing are acceptable but will be closed or removed if they wander off topic or become disruptive.

We encourage "discussions" that are beneficial to the members, but have to stop things as in your own words that are or will become "arguments" ....which is what has happened in this thread.

The site team is doing a clean up of these posts (or posts that quote them) which are against the above guideline.
There are plenty of other places to "argue" these topics besides FRF.

This thread is closed.
