After working on them for so long, those areas around the doors are very sturdy. Those and the heater channels provided all of the support for the car itself (thus no "frame"). Those VW 5th wheels couldn't have weighed much, either (although that bug backend is sitting pretty low). I don't see that bug going very fast with all of that added wind resistance!

Yep, this video has been on every RV forum on the Internet, for years.
But many haven't ever seen it and it's still fun to watch.

Sure is but I still prefer the VW Westfalia had one. Nice camper. Spent a lot of quality time in one back in the 60's (most of which is a fuzzy memory....) lol
