Exclamation Recall on Honda EU2200i, EU2200i Companion and EB2200i for fuel leak

Consumer Reports news this morning provided the link to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall. This is unrelated to the EG2800i fuel leak recall. The CPSC page has the range of serial numbers recalled. They were sold between Feb 2018 and Feb 2019. Honda will repair for free.

Has anyone had their Honda 2200i serviced under the provisions of this recall??
Purchased mine at Northern Tools but they have been unresponsive to any info regarding repairs/timeline etc.

I think you have to take it to an authorized Honda generator repair location, not the retailer. Double check the recall and call Honda?

That's my problem. My local Northern Tools is an Authorized Repair Center with service/parts on site. Only info they will give is waiting on the parts. Just trying to get some sense if this is a valid response. It is camping season and this recall is getting months old now! Did not expect this from Honda USA.

I was in automotive for years. The delay happens all the time. The CPSC or NHTSA announce the recall before the manufacturer has been able to get replacement parts in the pipeline. The dealers get stuck in the middle.

Took my two 2200’s in a couple of weeks ago. I bought them online however I found a local authorized equipment dealer to service them. It took 2 weeks because they were waiting on parts. Apparently Honda only pays the dealer 20 minutes of shop time to replace the potentially leaky valves. The dealer I used explained that brand new units are a bit quicker to swap out since no fuel is in the tank. Nevertheless they spend more time fixing these than the time allotted.

I just got mine back after about two months waiting on parts.

After reading all of this I noted one important thing: This is for the following Honda generators only: Honda EU2200i, EU2200i Companion and EB2200i Portable Generators

I converted mine to LPG, not going to bother with the recall.

Service to about 3 hours

I took my EU2200I and my EU2200I companion in and it took about three hours to have the recall work done. I took it to my local Honda dealer. Did it about a month ago.
