2018 233s bunk fans (LED Style)

We purchased a 2018 233s last May and have had to replace at least 2 of our bunk fans. The bunk fans are the new 5mm plug (not the old headphone jack style) and use LED bulbs. The first had some kind of short in the fan unit and blew a fuse. The most recent the whole unit stopped working- no light, no fan- but didn’t blow the fuse.

Has anyone else has this issue? At $40-50 each fan, I’m really hesitant to keep buying them....

If the one quit working I would test it on other plugs and then look at the plug end and see if the wires are still intact, or pulled loose of the connector...

I have had one of 5 fans I have owned go bad, but only the light bulb which got replaced with LED lamps...

I found this one for $30...

Thanks, RSData! The lower price certainly does help... The first one definitely had a wiring issue as when we went to plug it in to a different outlet, the outlet/plug started smoking. We contacted FR and they replaced under our 2nd year warranty (after dealing with a crap dealership who had it in service for over a month, burning the tent on the front bunk, and replacing with the wrong plug/fan!... but I digress).

The second one didn't work in any plug and fortunately didn't catch any on fire either. We'll pull it apart to look at wiring/connections. Thanks for the tip!

There were issues with fans a number of years ago, but haven't seen anyone reporting issues lately. This thread may or may not help with the new fans:

I found a loose screw hanging out inside my front bunk plug. I took it out and things started working a bit better

I contacted my selling dealer and told them about 2 bunk fan/lights that went bad withing 2 weeks of each other. I sent them pics for FR and the units were replaced free through FR 2nd warranty that I had purchased. In all, took about 10 days total to receive the new fans.
