Extended Warranty - Yes or No??
We bought a new 2011 Shamrock 233S last week and am up in the air on the extended warranty. An additional 12 months for $150.00 seems like a steal to me. Thoughts??

if you'd did a search on this here, you can read hundreds of posts for opinions.
bottom line is that you're correct. it's a steal compared to 3rd party extended warranties and covers more.
not sure why you'd be up in the air about it. it's a bargain. that's about the cost of one hour of time at a RV service shop.

Every Consumer Reports Magazine article regarding extended warranties advises against them. I consider it a fine organization looking out for the consumer. THAT SAID, I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY for our 2012 233S Roo. All the things that can go wrong -- MIGHT. I really feel fortunate to be able to purchase the Roo and for $150 wanted to protect the investment an additional year. The "glass is half full", but sometimes there is a bit of spillage. The 2nd year warranty could clean up the mess.

Yes, we had ours in so far once, and I would not have wanted to pay that bill. We have a whole year left in case anything goes wrong. It is well worth the 150.

Hands down. YES ! Like said before, it is a bargain. One hour labor at any RV shop around my area will go from $80 to $120 per hour. It pays on the first visit.

Good choice! Yes, there are a lot of extended warranties that are not worth the paper they're printed on. (Small appliances, small electronics, etc.) But your camper is loaded with sooooooo many things that can fail. Even if you never use it, it's nice to know that for two years you have peace of mind.
I have a friend who bought a Samsung 50" LCD flat screen. He didn't take out the extended warranty on his $1800 purchase. 14 months (2 months after the 1-year warranty ended), his television failed. The part to repair it was $1200. He called Samsung and got absolutely no where. They would not even pay for a percentage of the part. So he had to buy another television (this time he bought a plasma for $900), but I guarantee he'll never again buy a Samsung!

Try http://www.thewarrantygroupdirect.com instead.
It's owned by one of the largest warranty companies in the world and you can get 2 extra years for less than $130.

I tried that site. I couldn't find anything about RV coverage or were you just talking about the electronic coverage?

i have yet to hear of a 3rd party warranty that covers the same as the factory warranty.
and nearly all end up not covering the most common issues on RVs.

From what I understand it's really necessary to see and read all the fine print on the extended warranty policy. It's not always the same coverage as the original warranty (& second year FR warranty). Warranties can vary in coverage from one policy to another. Often things you would think would be covered is excluded.
Would the 5 year warranty start after the FR warranty end or would it start right away? Sounds like a silly question but I have seen some warranties that overlapped for the original warranty period.
